THE NUMBERS BEHIND THE PAYMENT

A Stripe processing fee calculator for the amount you actually keep.

A payment and a payout are different numbers. This Stripe fees calculator shows the processing cost, the net amount after fees, and the price needed to reach a target. Start with your account country, choose the payment method, and enter the full amount charged.

FORWARD CALCULATION

How to calculate Stripe fees

Multiply the payment by the percentage rate and add the fixed charge. For a $100 domestic online card payment in the US, $2.90 plus $0.30 gives a $3.20 fee. Subtract it from $100 to get $96.80. Include tax and shipping in the payment amount when the customer pays them in the same charge.

REVERSE CALCULATION

What to charge to receive a target amount

Switch to What to charge and enter your target net. To keep $100 at 2.9% + $0.30, charge $103.30. Adding the fee on $100 would give $103.20, leaving just $99.91: the higher charge creates a higher fee. The calculator checks cent-level amounts against rounded fees, including the ACH cap.

QUICK REFERENCE

Stripe fee examples: $10 to $10,000

US domestic online cards at 2.9% + $0.30, with no additional products. The effective rate includes the fixed fee, so small payments cost more as a share of revenue.

COUNTRY MATTERS

Standard online card rates by account country

Published presets checked October 1, 2026. These are account-country prices. Selecting a currency alone does not determine your fee. The euro preset uses Ireland’s pricing; confirm the local schedule for other euro accounts.

Premium UK and EEA cards use 2.8% plus the local fixed fee. Select the matching category in the calculator. Use Custom rates for negotiated pricing or another country.

PLAN A MONTH OF PAYMENTS

Calculate fees across multiple transactions

Enter an average payment and a monthly count. One hundred $100 domestic US card payments produce $10,000 in revenue, $320 in fees, and $9,680 after fees. Treating that revenue as one payment would show $290.30 and miss 99 fixed charges. Monthly results also show the annual fee cost if the same volume repeats for 12 months.

For equal-sized paymentsMonthly fees = fee per payment × payment countDifferent card types? Calculate each group separately.

CARD OR BANK DEBIT

How the $5 ACH cap changes the result

For a $1,000 US payment, the online card estimate is $29.30. ACH Direct Debit is $5 because its 0.8% fee is capped per payment. To receive $1,000 through ACH without extra products, charge $1,005. Availability and payment timing differ by method; this comparison only estimates fees.

WHAT THE ESTIMATE COVERS

Check the full cost of a payment

Optional US Billing and Invoicing estimates are added separately to processing. The ACH cap applies only to the processing component. Currency conversion is a fee estimate, not an exchange-rate calculation. Regional presets round processing to the nearest cent; optional product fees are rounded separately.

Net after fees is not profit or a guarantee of the amount deposited into your bank. Your account may include other products, tax on fees, refunds, disputes, payout charges, or negotiated rates. Match the selected options to your actual fee schedule before using the estimate in a budget.

QUESTIONS

Stripe fee calculator questions

Is there a fee to use this Stripe calculator?

No. This calculator is free, requires no signup, and calculates your estimate in your browser. It does not connect to your payment account.

How do I calculate Stripe fees?

Multiply the full payment amount by your percentage rate, then add the fixed fee. Subtract that fee from the payment to estimate your net proceeds. The US standard domestic online card rate is 2.9% plus $0.30: a $100 payment costs $3.20 and leaves $96.80.

How much does Stripe charge on $100 or $1,000?

At the US standard domestic online card rate, the fee is $3.20 on $100 and $29.30 on $1,000. You receive $96.80 or $970.70 respectively, before any other charges. International cards, conversion, and optional products can increase the cost.

How much should I charge to receive $100 after fees?

For a US domestic online card payment, charge $103.30 to receive $100 after an estimated $3.30 processing fee. The reverse formula is (target net + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − percentage rate). Simply adding 2.9% and $0.30 to $100 does not cover the fee on the higher charge.

Can this Stripe fees calculator handle multiple payments?

Yes. Choose Monthly costs and enter the average payment amount and the number of successful payments. Each payment incurs its own fixed fee and, for US ACH, its own cap. Totals assume equal-sized payments with the same pricing; a mix of amounts or card types can differ.

What is the fee for international cards and currency conversion?

For a US account, international cards add 1.5 percentage points and required currency conversion adds another 1 percentage point. A $100 charge with both costs $5.70. Choose the country where your account is based because other countries use different rates and card categories.

How does the ACH fee cap work?

US ACH Direct Debit costs 0.8%, capped at $5 for each successful payment. The cap is reached at a $625 charge. Product fees, such as Billing, are separate and are not covered by this cap.

Are processing fees returned when I issue a refund?

Under standard pricing, original payment processing and currency conversion fees are not returned. Refunding a $100 US domestic card payment therefore leaves the original $3.20 processing cost. Custom contracts can differ.

Are subscription and invoice fees included?

For US presets, you can add Billing pay-as-you-go at 0.7% of eligible volume or Invoicing Starter at 0.4% per paid invoice. Choose the product that applies to the payment. Other products, tax on fees, disputes, and payout fees are outside this estimate.

Why does my actual fee differ from the calculator?

Your account country, card category, payment method, currency conversion, negotiated pricing, and extra products can change the fee. Use Custom rates for your own percentage and fixed charge, and compare the estimate with your account fee schedule. Small differences may also come from rounding.
